Fruits of passion from Valpolicella

[Sponsored by Zenato winery]
In 1921 Ezra Pound wrote to James Joyce from a hotel that still today overlooks Sirmione’s harbour on Lake Garda: “Dear Joyce, I’d like you to spend a week here with me. The location is well worth the journey – both Catullus and I can guarantee it!” Lake Garda is biggest lake in Italy and one of the most visited places in Italy. Just east from Lake Garda, in the Verona province, there is a region called Valpolicella. This hilly agricultural region is famous for wine production. You probably came across the most famous wine of the region: the Amarone. In the heart of Valpolicella, there is a great winery, representing all its values and tradition.

The Soul of Lugana and the Heart of Valpolicellavalpo

The heart and soul of Zenato lies in the ancient morainic lands of Lugana and Valpolicella, with their mild climate and unrivaled charm, that overlook the Veneto shore of Lake Garda. The vineyards cover 75 hectares in the Zenato estate of S. Cristina in San Benedetto di Lugana, ideal for the Trebbiano di Lugana, and in the Costalunga estate in Valpolicella, the homeland of the famous Amarone Zenato, where the renowned vines Corvina, Rondinella and Oseleta are cultivated. It all began in 1960 when Sergio Zenato, filled with energy and ambition and driven by his deep bond with the territory, tried out new techniques of wine making and invested in native vines in order to obtain wine of the highest quality. zenato winery vineyards veneto italyToday, his wife Carla, together with their children Alberto and Nadia, continues to pursue Sergio’s great enterprise with the same enthusiasm, tenacity and infinite dedication, making the excellence of Zenato’s wines known in more than 60 countries of the world.

Fruits of passion

Every Zenato wine is the fruit of the untiring commitment to excellence as well as boundless passion for the territory and the surprising potential of its native vines.

Each bunch of grapes is harvested with great care, by hand, to keep its precious nectar intact. Production is kept below the maximum limit allowed by the regulations in order to guarantee the quality of the grapes through the care lavished on the vineyard. Every harvest takes place in respect of the natural time and traditional knowledge, yet still taking advantage of innovative methods.zenato winery vineyards veneto italy

Inside the cellars, every Zenato wine follows its proper course: the must is preserved in order to promote optimal fermentation and then refined, aged and bottled. Special care is given to the choice of the bottles, in which the wine is best preserved in order to present its essence intact at the moment of tasting.

Year after year, the fruits of the passion of Zenato are different in order to always remain themselves.
