Tuscany vs Piedmont: 11-2

Every year the Italian wine expert Cesare Pillon crosses the ratings from the main Italian wine guides to create a master ranking of Italian red wines. The ratings are from the wine experts of Gambero Rosso, l’Espresso, Veronelli, Bibenda, Vitae, Daniele Cernilli, Luca Maroni. The ranking is published by Gentleman Magazine. There is also a more comprehensive ranking, considering not only the Italian wine reviews, but also the ratings from Wine Spectator and Robert Parker.

The result is a total domination of Tuscany, with just a couple of wines from Piedmont.

II Sodi di San Niccolò 2011, Castellare di Castellina, Tuscanyn the first position there is a classic masterpiece , Sassicaia 2011 Tenuta San Guido with a score of 861.5, On the second position of the podium there is a wine from the lands of Chianti Classico, the Sodi di San Nicolò 2011 – score 838.5 – from Castellare di Castellina, just before the Tignanello 2011 from Antinori – 836. A total Tuscan domination even in the positions below the podium: Brunello di Montalcino 2009 Biondi Santi in the fourth position with a score of 824.5 from Tenuta Il Greppo. In fifth position another Brunello di Montalcino, Riserva 2008 Poggio di Sotto
